Janelle Yorke is currently Dean of the School of Nursing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Academic Dean of the School of Nursing at Wenzhou Medical University. In 2024, she was awarded the Global STEM Professor Chair of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, becoming the first and only nursing scholar to receive this prestigious honor. This award includes the directorship of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Digital Oncology Care Enhancement Laboratory (DOCE) and is supported by the endowment of the Chan Lau On Chair in Health and Longevity. Prior to joining The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, she served as the inaugural Chair in Oncology Nursing established jointly by the University of Manchester and Christie NHS Foundation Trust from 2015. During her tenure, she chaired the Christie Electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes System (ePROM) Committee, leading the successful integration of the ePROM system into routine clinical care. Today, the system covers more than 38 different disease groups and treatment pathways, with over 70,000 electronic reports received from more than 27,000 patients. She still collaborates with the Christie ePROM team in an advisory capacity. Her research also includes the development and evaluation of non-pharmacological interventions aimed at helping patients and their family caregivers self-manage distressing symptoms such as dyspnea, improving patients’ quality of life. She has received the NIHR Senior Investigator Award (National Institute for Health and Care Research) for her contributions to clinical research and support for the training of clinically-academic interdisciplinary in nursing and allied health. She currently serves as the Chair of the NIHR Pre-Clinical and Practice Academic Fellowships (PCAF) Review Panel. In 2025, she was selected as a member of the NIHR flagship program—the NIHR Professor Chair Award Review Panel.
