To deepen medical-university collaborative innovation, break the bottlenecks in clinical nursing research and advance the high-quality development of the nursing discipline of our university, on January 19, 2026, a 12-member delegation led by Cai Fuman, Dean of the Nursing College of Wenzhou Medical University, and Huang Xiaoqiong, Vice Dean, visited Wenzhou People's Hospital upon invitation for nursing research cooperation and exchanges. The delegation consisted of core academic backbones including PhDs and postdoctoral fellows engaged in research fields such as AI in healthcare, basic experiments and clinical nursing. Ruan Guomo, Party Secretary of Wenzhou People's Hospital, Zhang Yi, Vice Dean, Wang Haihong, Director of the Nursing Department, and 26 members of the hospital’s Nursing Science and Innovation Group attended the exchange event, which was presided over by Vice Dean Zhang Yi.

On behalf of the hospital, Party Secretary Ruan Guomo first extended a heartfelt welcome and sincere gratitude to the delegation from the Nursing College of Wenzhou Medical University. He elaborated on the hospital's development history, achievements in the construction of clinical dominant disciplines and the foundation for nursing research and innovation, emphasizing that the hospital boasts the most vivid clinical demand scenarios and precious real-world diagnosis and treatment data, while the Nursing College is equipped with a top-tier technological R&D team and a cutting-edge research methodology system, endowing the two sides with natural complementary advantages in cooperation. Secretary Ruan stated that he expects to take this exchange meeting as a starting point to open up data sharing channels and build a research collaboration platform focusing on key areas of clinical nursing, so as to accurately translate clinical pain points into research topics, enable research outcomes to quickly feed back into clinical practice, and foster a sound closed-loop ecosystem of "Problems from clinical practice, outcomes back to clinical practice". Subsequently, Director Wang Haihong delivered a thematic report on the construction and development of the nursing discipline, systematically expounding the research demands and development vision of the hospital's nursing team and expressing the earnest expectation for deepening medical-university nursing research cooperation.

On behalf of the college, Dean Cai Fuman expressed sincere gratitude to Wenzhou People's Hospital for its generous support in recent years in aspects such as undergraduate nursing education, China-Africa Midwifery Assistant Training and the cultivation of international enterostomal therapists. He stressed that this profound friendship spanning teaching and public welfare has laid a solid foundation for the two sides to deepen cooperation. He noted that leading the college's strongest team of core academic backbones to visit the hospital is a key measure to implement the strategy of medical-university collaborative development, aiming to extend the bilateral cooperation from the teaching level to the in-depth integration of scientific research innovation and achievement transformation.
At the exchange meeting, Dean Cai Fuman gave a special report entitled Data as a Bridge, Technology as a Medium: Forging a New Paradigm for Clinical Nursing Research Through Medical-University Collaboration. With the logical framework of "dilemma analysis - case verification - achievement transformation", the report profoundly interpreted the core value of medical-university collaboration: the hospital provides clinical demands and real-world data, while the university offers technological support and research methodologies, and the complementary advantages of both sides can form a complete research chain from problem proposal to outcome implementation. Dean Cai pointed out the prominent problems in current clinical nursing research, such as weak applicability, insufficient innovation, lack of scientific rigor and poor feasibility. He emphasized that "a good clinical nursing research should not only produce high-quality academic papers, but also guide clinical practice and drive the development of related industries through achievement transformation", and medical-university collaboration is exactly the key path to addressing these dilemmas. At the end of the report, Dean Cai shared practical cases of his team's research on the application and transformation of AI-enabled chronic wound care in recent years, vividly demonstrating the achievements of medical-university collaborative scientific research innovation driven by "data + technology" and providing valuable reference for the follow-up cooperation between the two sides.

In the free exchange and cooperation matching session, 10 core academic backbones from the Nursing College took turns to introduce their academic backgrounds, research directions and cooperation intentions, and conducted in-depth one-on-one discussions with members of the hospital’s Nursing Science and Innovation Group on hot topics of relevant clinical research, reaching a number of initial consensuses on cooperation.

Prior to the exchange meeting, the college delegation also paid an on-site visit to the hospital’s Post-Diagnosis Disease Management Center, Party Building Culture Park, Hospital History Museum and Child-Friendly Clinic, gaining a more intuitive understanding of the hospital's clinical service capacity, cultural development and innovation atmosphere.

The successful holding of this exchange meeting has built a regular research cooperation platform between the Nursing College of Wenzhou Medical University and Wenzhou People's Hospital. In the future, the two sides will further deepen collaborative linkage, focus on core pain points, share high-quality resources, jointly tackle technological challenges, and continue to explore the new medical-university collaboration paradigm for nursing research featuring "Data as a Bridge, Technology as a Medium". This will inject strong impetus into improving the quality of nursing services and driving the innovative development of the nursing discipline, and together contribute to the endeavor of building a Healthy China.
