On the morning of January 26, 2026, Conference Room 7C306, School of Nursing, Chashan Campus, Wenzhou Medical University was filled with warmth and distinguished guests. A delegation of four led by Professor Janelle Yorke, Dean of the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, visited Wenzhou Medical University to conduct in-depth academic cooperation and exchanges with the School of Nursing and nursing teams from its affiliated hospitals, and a grand appointment ceremony for Visiting Professor was held.At the ceremony, Dean Janelle Yorke, on behalf of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, awarded the Visiting Professor appointment certificate to Professor Cai Fuman, Dean of the School of Nursing, Wenzhou Medical University, in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements and leading role in the field of chronic wound care, injecting strong new momentum into the cooperative development of nursing disciplines between the two universities. The event was presided over by Professor Dong Chaoqun, Vice Dean of the School of Nursing. Also in attendance were Professor Huang Xiaoqiong, Vice Dean, Ms. Chen Yu, Deputy Director of the Nursing Department of the First Affiliated Hospital, Ms. Zhuge Linmin, Deputy Director of the Nursing Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital, and more than 30 nursing faculty members and clinical nurses.

At the beginning of the exchange meeting, Dean Cai Fuman delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the School of Nursing, Wenzhou Medical University. He extended a warm welcome to Dean Janelle Yorke and her delegation, and pointed out that this visit came less than three months after her attendance at the University’s Young Scientists Forum, which not only demonstrates the profound friendship between the nursing disciplines of the two universities, but also reflects the high importance and sincere expectations for bilateral cooperation. Dean Cai Fuman expressed sincere gratitude to the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for accepting a young faculty member from his school to pursue a doctoral degree in Hong Kong, stating that this initiative has laid a good foundation for the joint talent training between the two institutions. At the same time, he expressed sincere admiration for the outstanding achievement of the nursing discipline at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which has ranked 16th globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject under the leadership of Dean Janelle Yorke, and reaffirmed the desire to build a long-term, stable and deeply trusting cooperative relationship with the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, looking forward to jointly promoting the high-quality development of the nursing profession.

During the appointment ceremony, Dean Janelle Yorke formally presented the Visiting Professor certificate to Dean Cai Fuman, followed by a group photo. In her address, Dean Janelle Yorke highly praised Dean Cai Fuman for his profound expertise and outstanding contributions in disciplinary development, academic research innovation, talent team cultivation and social service in chronic wound care. She emphasized that this appointment marked an important milestone in academic exchanges between the two nursing schools, and expected to take Dean Cai Fuman as a bridge to deepen research collaboration in wound ostomy care, oncology nursing and other fields, so as to achieve win-win cooperation at a deeper level and in a wider range. In response, Dean Cai Fuman expressed sincere thanks for the trust and recognition from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He stated that he would take academic research in wound ostomy care and oncology nursing as the starting point to actively promote all-round and multi-level cooperation between the two universities in disciplinary resource sharing and academic achievement linkage, so as to jointly empower nursing talent training and disciplinary innovation for both sides.

After the appointment ceremony, the two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperative projects. Dean Janelle Yorke gave a comprehensive introduction to the educational philosophy, disciplinary layout, research strength and international cooperation achievements of the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, fully demonstrating its profound foundation and cutting-edge vision in the field of nursing. On behalf of the Chronic Wound Care Research Center of the School of Nursing, Dean Cai Fuman shared in detail the four-in-one research system he has led: basic research through animal experiments, artificial intelligence analysis of clinical data, multi-center database mining, and clinical application and achievement transformation, which aroused great attention and enthusiastic discussion among the guests. In addition, nursing directors from the First and Second Affiliated Hospitals of Wenzhou Medical University respectively introduced the development of their hospitals in the construction of characteristic specialties, focusing on the remarkable achievements made in wound ostomy care, oncology nursing and other disciplinary fields, allowing the delegation to fully appreciate the distinctive development advantages of "integration of university and hospital, and collaboration between medical treatment and education" in the nursing discipline of Wenzhou Medical University.




During the interactive session, the nursing teams from both universities conducted in-depth discussions and experience sharing on core topics including disciplinary development, clinical practice, talent cultivation, and scientific research innovation in the fields of wound ostomy care and oncology nursing. They also reached a number of preliminary consensus on future cooperation in academic exchanges, research collaboration, and faculty-student exchanges, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent establishment of a long-term cooperation mechanism and joint efforts to advance the high-quality development of the nursing discipline.



The successful holding of this exchange symposium not only witnessed the important moment when Dean Cai Fuman was appointed Visiting Professor of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, but also built a solid bridge for in-depth communication and joint progress between the two schools of nursing. After the symposium, Dean Janelle Yorke and her delegation visited the Wound Care Center, Aesthetic Medicine Center, Weight Management Center, Simulation Clinic and Hospital History Museum of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University. They spoke highly of the hospital’s solid measures and remarkable achievements in clinical diagnosis and treatment, discipline construction, teaching simulation and cultural inheritance.
