To deepen China-Thailand cooperation in nursing education and explore new approaches to international talent cultivation, a delegation consisting of 3 faculty members and 15 students from the School of Nursing, Burapha University, as well as 1 faculty member and 4 students from the School of Nursing, Prince of Songkla University, paid a visit to the School of Nursing of our university and participated in a one-week academic exchange themed Deepen Cooperation, Learn from Each Other and Make Joint Progress from June 27 to July 4.
In-depth Dialogues: Jointly Chart a New Chapter for China-Thailand Nursing Cooperation
On the morning of June 30, the delegation from the two Thai universities formally arrived at our school, and both sides held talks on international exchange and cooperation in nursing education. Professor Cai Fuman, Dean of the School of Nursing, attended the meeting, together with key faculty members and staff from the Teaching Affairs Office.
Dean Cai Fuman extended a warm welcome to the Thai delegation. He noted that Burapha University and Prince of Songkla University are prestigious institutions in nursing education across Southeast Asia. He expressed the hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to deepen pragmatic collaboration between the two sides in talent training, curriculum development and scientific research innovation. Afterwards, Dean Cai systematically introduced the school’s progress in program setup, faculty development, scientific research and international partnerships.
Both parties engaged in thorough discussions on the reform of nursing experimental teaching, optimization of curriculum systems and innovation of international education models. Drawing on their respective teaching and practical experience, they shared educational philosophies and ideas for teaching reform. The Thai faculty and students spoke highly of the achievements our school has made in nursing education.
Empowerment Through Learning: Mutual Learning to Broaden New Horizons in Nursing Education
During the exchange program, the Thai delegation toured the University History Museum, the Human Science Museum and the Nursing Skills Experimental Teaching Center of our university to gain an in-depth understanding of the university’s founding history, disciplinary evolution and the development outcomes of the nursing program.
At the Nursing Skills Experimental Teaching Center, Thai teachers and students observed the construction of our experimental teaching platforms and exhibitions of teaching achievements on site. They praised our advanced training facilities, educational concepts and talent cultivation models, and stated that they would actively draw on our exemplary experience in nursing experimental teaching.
Quality Improvement Through Clinical Practice: Foster New Impetus for Nursing Development
Clinical observation and practice constituted a core component of this study tour. Accompanied by senior faculty from our school, the Thai delegation visited the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital (Yuying Children’s Hospital) and Chashan Subdistrict Community Health Service Center.
All medical institutions gave a warm reception to the visiting group and fully demonstrated their integrated model of medicine, nursing, education, research and administration. They elaborated on featured specialized nursing services, cutting-edge nursing technologies and the construction of high-quality service systems. In-depth discussions were carried out on enhancing specialized nursing competency, joint cultivation of cross-border nursing talents and sharing clinical teaching resources.
Thai teachers and students gained first-hand insights into the disparities and respective strengths of the nursing industries in China and Thailand. They unanimously agreed to leverage the international cooperation platform to facilitate continuous exchange of nursing techniques and sharing of teaching resources, and boost the quality and efficiency of clinical nursing services via cross-border collaboration.
Cultural Bonding: Deepen Friendship Between Chinese and Thai Teachers and Students Through Cultural Exchange
To strengthen emotional ties between teachers and students of the two countries, student volunteers from our school accompanied the Thai delegation to landmark cultural sites including Wenzhou Museum, Wuma Street and Wenzhou Garden Expo Park, allowing them to immerse themselves in the millennia-old Ouyue civilization and the urban charm of Wenzhou.
Rooted in the shared and integrated essence of Eastern culture, Thai participants gained a deeper understanding of Wenzhou’s local culture through on-site experiences, laying a solid emotional foundation for regular and in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the long run.
Hand in Hand for Common Progress: Usher in a New Phase of China-Thailand Nursing Collaboration
This one-week academic study tour between Chinese and Thai nursing teams featured well-rounded arrangements and fruitful outcomes. It further strengthened the cooperative links between our school and Burapha University and Prince of Songkla University, and enabled the two sides to reach far-reaching consensus on multiple fronts including nursing education reform, integration with clinical practice and international talent development.
Going forward, our school will build on this exchange to formalize a regular international communication mechanism with the two Thai universities. We will keep innovating cooperation modalities and enriching collaborative content, strive to build a distinctive brand for international exchange and cooperation in China-Thailand nursing education, and jointly write a new chapter of high-quality coordinated development for nursing undertakings in China and Thailand.
