Dr. Pornpat Hengudomsub, Program Lead of Burapha University, and several Thai faculty members joined the event online. Vice Dean Dong Chaoqun presided over the ceremony.

At the start of the ceremony, Vice Dean Dong Chaoqun introduced the Chinese and foreign guests in attendance. Promotional videos of the two universities and their respective schools of nursing were then played, presenting an overview of institutional development, discipline building, faculty resources, teaching and research platforms, and achievements in international education. The videos fully demonstrated the solid educational foundation and distinctive educational features of both institutions.

On behalf of the School of Nursing, Wenzhou Medical University, Dean Cai Fuman delivered a welcome address. He noted that the partnership between the two universities has a long-standing history. Building on the existing master’s program, important new progress has been achieved in recent years: the collaborative undergraduate nursing program has been steadily advanced, and international nursing conferences have been co-hosted, marking continuous upgrading of cooperation. Dean Cai encouraged the new students to cherish this international platform jointly established by China and Thailand, broaden their horizons through cross-cultural academic exchanges, sharpen their capabilities in research practice, and strive to become high-caliber nursing talents with global competitiveness, making contributions to human health.

Following the ceremony, Dr. Chintana Wacharasin gave a detailed briefing on the program curriculum, study content, graduation requirements and rules and regulations, and responded one by one to questions raised by students.

The China-Thailand Master’s Program in Nursing is the first Sino-foreign cooperative postgraduate program approved by the Ministry of Education at our university, and has been selected as an Excellent Case of Sino-foreign Cooperative Education in Zhejiang Province. Launched in 2019, the program has achieved remarkable outcomes with sustained support and careful cultivation from both sides, enjoying growing social influence and rising application popularity, and has become a flagship example of international cooperation between the two universities. The program enrollment quota has expanded steadily, rising from 30 to 45 students for the 2026 intake. Together with the new 2026 cohort, there are currently 162 active students, reflecting strong momentum of development. Since the first cohort of 2019 students graduated, the program has maintained a high graduation rate, with over 98% of students awarded degrees within the standard study period. Leveraging strong research capacity and clinical leadership skills, most graduates have grown into key clinical nursing practitioners and nursing administrators.

Looking ahead, the School of Nursing, Wenzhou Medical University will continue to deepen strategic cooperation with the School of Nursing, Burapha University of Thailand, further expanding collaboration in joint training, research innovation and cultural communication, and contributing more to the national strategy of opening-up in education.
