The Nursing Program at Wenzhou Medical University was established in 1998. It began enrolling undergraduate nursing students in 2001, master's students in nursing in 2006, and undergraduate midwifery students in 2018. As a key base in Zhejiang Province for cultivating high-level nursing talents, it integrates clinical practice, teaching, scientific research, and management.
The program boasts a 6,500-square-meter Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and a 300-square-meter nursing research laboratory capable of conducting independent basic research and nursing artificial intelligence research. The Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center has been accredited as a Zhejiang Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, a Provincial-Ministerial Co-constructed University Laboratory, an Advanced Collective for Laboratory Work in Zhejiang Universities, and a Class A Special Project for Laboratory Construction in Zhejiang Universities. It took the lead in China to explore the "three-step" nursing experimental teaching model of "Basic-Specialized-Integrated".
Adhering to the college motto "Care with Skill, Practice with Principle" and the vision of "Building a Top-tier Program and Becoming a First-class Discipline", the program is guided by the talent training philosophy of "solid foundation, strong skills, emphasis on humanity, and pursuit of innovation". It aims to cultivate high-level nursing talents who are "forward-thinking, demand-adaptive, future-oriented, and development-leading".
Graduates of the undergraduate nursing program should:
Meet the needs of China's socialist modernization drive and the development of health care undertakings;
Achieve all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills;
Master systematically the basic theories, knowledge, and skills of nursing;
Possess basic clinical nursing capabilities, preliminary teaching, management, scientific research, and innovation abilities, as well as good professional ethics;
Be capable of engaging in nursing, prevention, and health care work in various medical and health institutions.
Duration: Four years.
Core Courses: Systematic Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Immunology and Pathogen Biology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Health Assessment, Fundamental Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing, Acute and Critical Care Nursing, Nursing Management, and Basic Nursing Humanities.
Students who complete all courses specified in the teaching plan and earn the required credits will be allowed to graduate. Those who meet the academic degree requirements will be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree.
